MITHI: A 31-year-old Ukrainian national, who was allegedly kidnapped three years ago from Rawalpindi, was recovered by law enforcement officials from the village of Katho in the limits of Khensar police station on Sunday.
Tharparkar Senior Superintendent of Police Sarfaraz Nawaz Shaikh said that a joint team of police and the Rangers raided the village, recovered Katrina and arrested her alleged kidnapper Abdul Munaf Nohrio.
Katrina told police that she was kidnapped from Rawalpindi and then taken to Tharparkar by Munaf.
Munaf’s parents told police that their son had married Katrina. Katrina was not lured by the accused through social media but abducted, Shaikh said, adding that involvement of other people in Rawalpindi in the kidnapping could not be ruled out.
A case (130/2013) has been registered against the alleged abductor at a police station in Mandrah, Shaikh said. He said the woman and the accused were both handed over to a police team from Rawalpindi and that the matter was being investigated.
