SHIKARPUR: The staffers of the Health Department boycotted anti-polio drive and staged a protest demonstration against the firing and searching of the Khanpur Hospital by some armed persons at midnight. The protestors said that this incident was done by few local persons. District Health Officer Kazi Khurshed and other officials concerned rushed to the spot and assured the staffers of the justice. The protesters ended their demonstration and resumed anti-polio drive. Local religious leader Muhammad Shah Kazmi said that this was the second time in a week that some suspects were seen near the Haveli of the Shia community. He said that the unidentified armed men injured the guard and ran towards the hospital. “Therefore, we searched the hospital to capture suspects,” he said. “We have continuously been receiving threats and we would lodge a case against suspected persons,” he said.
